A Shady Retreat

A Shady Retreat
Who lives here? Look and listen for signs of wildlife.

This secluded passage of the Hudson River is an historic “crossroad” long visited by people and animals. You are walking where native people hunted, explorers ventured, colonial soldiers battled…and where wildlife has lived and migrated for thousands of years. Animals find food sources, hiding places, and shelter to raise their young here in the trees and woody debris along the river.

Millions of birds rely on the Hudson River during their annual migrations.

You can help care for this habitat and the wildlife that lives here by staying on the trail.
