Riverwalk Sensory Trail

Riverwalk Sensory Trail

Welcome to the Riverwalk Sensory Trail. It is designed to provide an outdoor experience for all visitors, regardless of their physical abilities. The Trail follows the south shore of this island along the Hudson River, an area which is steeped in historical and ecological significance.

The trail’s smooth, wide surface provides easy navigation for those with mobility limitations. Wooden strips embedded within the trail are positioned at key locations to provide auditory and textural cues of an approaching trail feature. Locally crafted benches and overlooks serve as resting locations and opportunities to enjoy the sensory characteristics provided by the river and the surrounding woodlands.

We ask that you please share this trail with everyone you know and invite people of all physical abilities to visit this space. Enjoy your time here.

This trail was prepared for the New York State Departments of State with funds provided under Title II of the Environmental Protection Fund and made possible through the support of the New York State Canal Corporation and Hudson River Valley Greenway. The audio version of this sign was made possible through support from the Common Roots Foundation.

The park is open from dawn to dusk. Motorized vehicles are prohibited.
