Kids On the Canals- Science

Join us for a family-friendly adventure that blends outdoor fun with real-world engineering! During this science-themed excursion, families will take a short guided hike to Lock C5, where they’ll watch this fascinating piece of canal infrastructure work.

Participants will explore the engineering principles behind the lock system, learning how it allows boats to safely travel between different elevations. Kids and grown-ups alike will have a chance to ask questions, see the lock in action, and imagine what it took to design such a structure.

Back at the pavilion, the fun continues as families team up to design and build their own working lock models. Using simple materials and lots of creativity, participants will test their designs, solve problems, and maybe even get a little wet!

Registration is required and space is limited. For all of the details and to register follow this link.
