Registration Information

Each participant over the age of 7 years old must register. Please bring a (full) reusable water bottle, gardening gloves, and appropriate attire. It is also advisable to apply bug spray and sunscreen prior to arrival. This is a hands-on workshop and we will be getting dirty. (We are gardeners, after all!) Hudson Crossing Park is a carry in, carry out facility, so please take any garbage with you and dispose of it responsibly.

Participants will meet under the Hudson Crossing Park pavilion before exploring the park’s gardens and/or tackling invasive species. Driving directions to the park are available HERE. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us at info@hudsoncrossingpark.org.

June 7: Native Plant Workshop: Walk and Talk about Pollinator Plants, Shrubs, and Trees

It’s Invasive Awareness Week! Enjoy a guided walk and talk through HCP’s pollinator gardens and learn about keystone species, the basics of growing your own native garden, and the importance of managing invasives with special guest Kate Littrell, Phd and Senior Environmental Scientist with NYS Canal Corporation.

September 20: A Look at the Insects in the Native Plant Gardens

Find out what all the buzz is about! A diverse population of insects is an integral part of a healthy and productive garden. From pollinating insects to the predatory insects that keep the pesky bugs away, we will take a close up look at the bugs who call HCP’s pollinator gardens home.

July 14: Pollinator Plant Sale and Workshop

Get ready to get dirty! This workshop is paired with HCP’s annual pollinator plant sale, so not only will participants learn about how to start their own pollinator gardens, but they’ll have a chance to purchase some to take home!

August 16: Identify Invasive and Native Plants and Learn How They Affect Wildlife

Invasive species are damaging to the environment, human health, and the economy, and learning to identify the most common invasives (and their native competition) will help you along the road to a happier, healthier backyard.

October 18: Seed Collection and Storage

As another successful gardening season winds down, we’ll say goodbye to this years plantings by getting ready for the next. Successful seed collection and storage not only saves money, but allows us to enjoy beautiful, native plantings year after year.
