Canines Crossing at the Park

Dog lovers unite, and join Hudson Crossing Park in celebrating the working dog and all things canine at Canines Crossing at the Park! A fun day out in the sun with local canine search and rescue groups, Guiding Eye service dogs, the Saratoga County K-9 unit, agility dogs, therapy dogs, animal story telling and much more!

Schedule of events:
11:15am: Lower Adirondack Search and Rescue (LASAR): A wilderness search and rescue team located in the Adirondack Region of New York State, the team’s more than 60 volunteer members are dedicated to searching for lost people by using skills learned through extensive classroom education and field training.

12pm: Guiding Eye Dogs for the Blind: This organization helps to create meaningful connections between exceptional guide dogs and people with vision loss, so that they can experience all of life’s adventures. Learn how these canines are trained and matched with their human companions to help those with vision loss live live to its fullest.

12:30pm: Canine Companions for Independence®: A non-profit organization that was founded in 1975 , CCI enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships.

1pm: Agility Demonstrations: Watch these highly trained canines jump, weave and scamper through the course, guided by their humans.

1:30pm: Saratoga County Sheriff K9 unit: Learn about the many ways these highly trained canines keep us safe!

2pm: Sophy's Story: Sophy was a trained rescue and therapy dog, school crossing guard, and fixture in Greenwich banks, eateries, library, churches, and even town meetings. The unofficial mascot of the Town of Greenwich, her story illustrates how one dog can touch an entire community. Visitors are encouraged to share their own stories of Sophy as well!

2:30pm: Therapy Dogs International (TDI®): A volunteer organization dedicated to regulating, testing and registration of therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers for the purpose of visiting nursing homes, hospitals, other institutions and wherever else therapy dogs are needed.

3pm: Hudson Mohawk Search and Rescue’s K-9 Unit: A wilderness rescue tool dedicated to finding lost subjects and saving lives using trained and certified handler and dog teams, the K9 Unit specializes in Live Find Air-Scent and Cadaver, so these talented dogs are certified in either or both. Watch these highly trained canines jump, weave and scamper through the course, guided by their humans.

PLUS Wild Dogs food truck, crafts for kids (make a tie dye bandana to bring home to your pup!), "veterinarian office" play area, meet the vet. table, round table storytelling about pet dogs, and more!
